New York State has made a video about the new Common Core Standards and the upcoming Grade 3-8 state assessments in English language arts and math. This is the link for the video http://www.engageny.org/resource/video-for-parents-and-families-about-the-common-core-assessments
I want to be sure that all of our families have heard that we are in the process of forming a Marketing Committee as part of the Home-School Association. The focus of the committee is to increase awareness of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Academy to the community and to promote school activities and events.
Toward that end, we are looking for public relations and advertising professionals, graphic designers, web designers/developers, copywriters and local business owners or friends of local business owners. If you are interested in working on this committee you can either contact Mr. Thomas DelMundo at tom.delmundo@ draftfcb.com or send your nameto the office.
Current families will be assured a seat for their child for next year if they re-register by March 31st, with one exception. We currently have 50 Pre-K 4 students. If all re-register we will have 2 kindergarten classes next year. If we only get a partial re-registration, priority will be given to the first 30 students with the rest being placed on a waiting list until we reach 40 students. It is our strongest desire to have 2 kindergarten classes next year. For other grade levels that are presently at capacity, we will accept no new registrants until all present students have re-registered by the March 31st deadline. For classes that are at less than 30, we will only accept new registrants until we reach 30 by March 31st and the start a waiting list.
As we go forward with our plans for next year, it is important to us, for budgetary purposes to know as early as possible, our rate of re-registration. Our recent Open House was well attended and we have many new families who have expressed a strong desire to register their child for next year. This is certainly welcome news as we attempt to grow St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Academy. We certainly hope that all our present families re-register by March 31st.
For new families who may be interested in SJWCA, we have many openings for Pre-K3 and limited openings for Pre-K4 through 8th grade. If you are interested in seeing the school, tours are available 5 days a week from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Simply call 718-768-7629 and arrange for a tour. We have some new and exciting programs to add for next year, so come and see what St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Academy is all about.
